Dear OADN Members,
Over the last few years, OADN has experienced many transitions as we continue to build our presence as a national nursing organization. We are thankful for the support of our membership who has encouraged and supported our many new initiatives. OADN has a bold vision for the future of associate degree nursing education and the organization. The OADN Board of Directors has had serious discussions about the state of the organization and believes it is time to take the next positive step in our future. You may be aware that for many years we have been fortunate to work with International Association Management (IAM) in Pensacola, Florida. They have assisted in managing the affairs of OADN and the OADN Foundation, and the OADN Board of Directors has appreciated the attentiveness and professionalism the IAM staff provided to OADN over many years. Our contract with IAM is scheduled for renewal at the end of this calendar year (2018). Realizing it is time for OADN to take the next step, the Board of Directors voted not to renew the contract so that we may take a new direction.
So today with a vision for the future, we are pleased and enthused to inform you that effective January 1, 2019, as we enter our 35th year as an organization we will move OADN to independent status! Simply this means we will not work with a management company and will have our own staff to manage OADN’s affairs. This decision has not been made lightly and has required much thought and planning as we transition to being our own entity. The OADN Board of Directors has worked diligently to address the multitude of components needed to be considered, including legal and financial consultants.
We hope each of you can share in our excitement as we move OADN forward in this significant and historical movement. We hope you can celebrate with us in Philadelphia at the national convention. It is fitting that our country declared its independence and a vision for the future in Philadelphia and OADN will be charting its new path in Philadelphia as well! What a wonderful venue to mark a new history for OADN!
With sincere gratitude,
