Greetings OADN Members!
It hardly seems possible that summer is coming to a close and we are all preparing for another academic year! This is a perfect time to reflect on the leadership and action we bring to our schools and communities.
OADN needs your leadership to carry our national efforts forward. One important action item is to vote in the OADN Board of Directors election. The two-week voting period opens August 12th. If you are an individual member, or the primary contact for your school’s membership, please make it a point to vote! The ballot also includes candidates for the Nominating Committee and important bylaws changes. This year the OADN Board of Directors has put forth a bylaws revision that would expand voting eligibility to registered faculty of OADN member schools. The board feels strongly that this change reflects OADN’s values of equity and inclusion, and will increase engagement and participation amongst our members across the country.
This half way point in the year also reminds me that we are getting closer to our annual convention set to take place in Louisville, KY. As I reflect on the topic of leadership I want to bring to your attention that the convention will offer several opportunities for leadership development. Our workshop entitled “Be the Leader You Would Follow” has already generated interest. The program facilitated by OADN’s Mary Dickow and partners Nell Ard and Kerri Nunn-Ellison from ACEN will provide valuable tools to expand your leadership skills and craft your unique journey. In addition, other leadership topics include “Engaging in Critical Conversations” and “Professional Identity in Nursing.” You won’t want to miss these! If you haven’t yet done so now is the opportune time to log in to the website to review all the session offerings and register for the event since registration fees will increase as of September 1st. Early bird pricing ends at the end of August so register now to save while signing up for what will be another highly valuable OADN convention.
This is your organization and your voice matters. I am honored to serve as your President as we collectively move OADN forward!
